Welcome to the database of experimentally supported miRNA targets on protein-coding transcripts!

The content of TarBase-v9.0 is exclusively experimentally supported and consists of interactions identified via high- or low-yield methods. Raw datasets produced by state-of-the-art interactome mapping methods (e.g., HITS-CLIP, PAR-CLIP, CLASH) were uniformly analyzed to maintain consistently high-quality standards, while miRNA targets verified via low-yield methods were amassed by means of manual article curation.

Extensive effort was made to cater to users a harmonized dataset. For annotation, the Ensembl and miRBase nomenclatures were utilized. Rich metadata regarding details on miRNA-gene interactions, experimental settings, as well as the respective publications complement each entry. Furthermore, TarBase interactions are interconnected with PubMed, Ensembl and miRBase.
TarBase is also seamlessly inter-connected with more than 86 million in-silico identified miRNA targets that are available through DIANA-microT 2023 (https://dianalab.e-ce.uth.gr/microt_webserver) as an asset to further explore the miRNA-gene pairs of interest and add an extra layer of interaction confidence. Interactive, exploratory visualizations and advanced filtering options are also provided to the users.
The entire contents of TarBase-v9.0 are free and open to all users without any register or log-in requirements!
